Assistive Technology

Assistive technology is defined as any item, piece of equipment, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of an individual. An assistive technology (here forth AT), can make a world of difference once it is implemented. However, there are several obstacles to overcome in picking the most suiting and least restrictive for an individual. This is a responsibility that falls in the hands of the individual, her teachers, her parents, and others who work with this student (in and outside of school). This toolset will identify the different parts of choosing an AT and provide resources for doing so.

The WATI Assistive Technology Assessment is a process based, systematic approach to providing a functional evaluation of the student's need for assistive technology in his or her customary environment. The assessment helps to identify areas of need for the student and why they are in need. By doing so, the team can then begin to identify ATs that are applicable to such needs.

Under "Services" click "Student Assessments"
